New York’s LaGuardia Airport is shut down after a lethal accident on the tarmac in a single day. Two pilots died when an Air Canada Specific flight collided with a hearth truck. Shortly after touchdown at 11:40 pm, the aircraft hit the truck nose-first.
Authorities say round 40 passengers and crew members aboard the flight have been taken to the hospital, some with critical accidents.
The automobile was apparently given permission to cross the runway. The hearth truck was touring throughout the runway to reply to a separate incident aboard a United Airways flight, whose pilot had reported “a problem with odor.” The airport might be closed till about 2 o’clock this afternoon.
LaGuardia is one among 35 main airports throughout the nation geared up with a complicated floor surveillance system that makes use of radar and information from locator techniques on planes to alert controllers to potential conflicts on runways.
