Forth in Thy title, O Lord, I am going,
My day by day labor to pursue,
Thee, solely Thee, resolved to know
In all I believe or communicate or do.
The duty Thy knowledge hath assigned
O let me cheerfully fulfill,
In all my works Thy presence discover,
And show Thy good and excellent will.
Protect me from my calling’s snare,
And conceal my easy coronary heart above,
Above the thorns of choking care,
The gilded baits of worldly love.
Thee might I set at my proper hand,
Whose eyes mine inmost substance see,
And labor on at Thy command
And supply all my works to Thee.
Give me to bear Thy straightforward yoke,
And each second watch and pray,
And nonetheless to issues everlasting look,
And hasten to Thy wonderful day,
For Thee delightfully make use of
Whate’er Thy bounteous grace hath given,
And run my course with even pleasure,
And intently stroll with Thee to heaven.
