It was a
Palm Sunday when the Lord Jesus Christ rode down the slopes of the Olivet and
entered town of Jerusalem triumphantly, just some days earlier than His
crucifixion. He was properly conscious of what was in retailer for Him there, and He
foretold to His disciples that He shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and
shall be mocked, and spitefully urged, and spitted on: and so they shall
scourge Him, and put Him to loss of life: and on the third day He shall rise once more
(Luke 18:32-33). In exact achievement of the prophecy of Zechariah, at His
command, His disciples introduced an ass together with her colt (Matthew 21:1-3), placed on
them their garments and set the Lord thereon, the place by no means man sat.
His
triumphal entry was not marked by any sort of present of energy and pomp however of
meekness and lowliness. Prophet Zechariah stated: “Rejoice vastly, O
Daughter of Zion! Shout, Daughter of Jerusalem! See, your King involves you,
righteous and having salvation, light and driving upon an ass, and upon a colt,
the foal of an ass” (Zechariah 9:9).
